Description
The vitis vinifera is a fruit-bearing plant belonging to the Vitaceae family. It has a twisted, partially woody trunk, with long stalked, broad, palmed and serrated edge leaves, some of which are prehensile tendrils. The fruits are juicy black or white grapes. Having been cultivated since ancient times, it grows spontaneously in numerous areas of Southern Europe and Western Europe, where it adheres with prehensile tendrils to natural or artificial supports.

The vine is a plant strongly characterised by mythological and historical significance: known by the Sumerians as the “grass of life” and described by the Greeks as the plant of everlasting life, it is considered by the Christians as the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
