Description
Evergreen shrub that belongs to the family of Liliacee and grows in Europe and Middle East. It has stiff, spine-tipped leaves and green flowers. The fruits are plump, red berries that ripen in winter.

Ancient Romans used to plant Ruscus around the houses as an ornament and because it was believed to be a protection against curses.
